Iga Swiatek and
Coco Gauff are through to the next round of the
Adelaide International after victories over Brengle and Paolini.
For Iga Swiatek it was an easy day at the office as she defeated Madison Brengle 6-3 6-4 to advance to the next round of the Adelaide International. The match was an exciting one as Brengle frustrated Swiatek quite a bit converting 3/3 break points. But she played rather bad on her own serve as well which gave Swiatek more than enough to defeat the American. The key was Swiatek's 2nd serve which she won at a higher rate than Brengle did her own and that was enough to win in 78 minutes of play.
Joining her in the next round will be Coco Gauff who had to battle hard in order to advance to the next round of the Adelaide International. Two hours and 35 minutes were needed by Gauff to defeat Paolini 6-4 6-7(4) 6-2. It was a rather disappointing outcome for Gauff who won the first set after playing better in key points and serve for the match at 5-3 in the 2nd. Ultimately she lost that game and set and had to go to the decider to settle it. Luckily for her she dominated in that one and she goes through to the next round.
