Iga Swiatek broke another record and it's quite an impressive one - the fewest games lost en route to a WTA trophy as she lost only five games in her run.
Losing five games in three matches is quite absurd and that's why it's a new record. She dominated Daniell Collins losing only one game against her. She did the same to Veronika Kudermetova and then she lost three games against Pegula. That's better than the previous record but she was aided by having to play one match less.
One of her wins was a walkover so that helped her but it counts as a record. The previous owners of the record were Steffi Graff, Monica Seles and Chris Evert who lost 8 games in such a draw format. All of them did that with four matches played so there is that tidbit to remember. Either way, an impressive performance nonetheless.
