Iga Swiatek capped off her stellar week in Adelaide win another straight-sets victory over
Belinda Bencic winning the
Adelaide International.
Heading into the Adelaide International final against Belinda Bencic, Iga Swiatek was considered the favourite. She confirmed that on the court beating Bencic in straight sets to win her 2nd career title. In the past week, the Polish player did not drop a set and today was no different. The 6-2 6-2 victory came in just over an hour of tennis.
The first set was an interesting one as Bencic held on at the start but later on, her struggles came to bite her. She served aggressively early on hitting some aces but also several double faults. Most of that was of major struggles on her 2nd serve which Swiatek attack relentlessly giving her an advantage. In the end, the six double faults were too much to overcome for Bencic who lost the opening set 6-2.
The 2nd set was better by Bencic but Swiatek, who played very well in the opening set, played even better in the 2nd. On the serve she had barely any issues as she dominated Bencic from the baseline. At 2-1 she Swiatek turned it on and raced to a game which she won without dropping a point taking the 3-1 lead. From there it was a rather easy journey towards the end of the match and another title.
