Swiatek fails to attain record still kept by Sharapova after Madrid Open final loss

Iga Swiatek had a chance to equal a record still held by Maria Sharapova this year however she won't be able to do it as she lost in the Madrid Open final.

Some years ago Maria Sharapova went on an incredible run winning a couple of big events. She first won Stuttgart. Then she won Madrid and Rome and then on top of that she won Roland Garros. The Polish superstar was able to do something similar last year as she won Stuttgart, Rome and Roland Garros however she didn't play in Madrid.

This year she won Stuttgart again which made it a possible for her to maybe equal this however losing in the Madrid Open final means that she will have to try some other year. Sharapova still remains the only player to win all four of those events in the same year.
