Swiatek Iga Roland Garros 2020
Iga Swiatek and Petra Kvitova were able to advance to the Miami Open round 3 with straight-set victories.
The Polish player was the first one to step onto the courts playing against Laura Siegemund. The German player is a solid player but on clay, she was simply no match for Swiatek. The Polish player was able to control the pace from the start attacking Siegemund from the start.
Siegemund was able to handle it rather well and actually caused trouble for Swiatek, especially in the 2nd set. The Polish player simply did not serve well enough to hold of the German who found ways to break Swiatek. Sadly she could not hold her own serve and Swiatek used her 11th MP to close it out 6-3 6-3.
Joining her in the next round is Petra Kvitova who was able to overcome Angelique Kerber in straight sets. The French Open semifinalist played an overall good match especially as she found herself trailing in both sets. Kerber was able to take an early break off of Kvitova in both sets but the Czech player battled back each time.
Towards the end of both sets things finally fell into place for Petra who was able to add another break to clinch the victory. The match lasted 83 minutes with the final score being 6-4 7-5. Kvitova will be happy to move past Kerber whom she feared before this matching having had a negative H2H against her.
