Iga Swiatek is having a stellar run at the
Roland Garros which saw her smash Simona Halep in a similar fashion to what Simona did to her last year.
Iga Swiatek is having an extraordinary run at the Roland Garros with stellar play even against the best of the best as highlighted by her impressive victory over Halep. The turnaround in her game is an astonishing one as just a year ago she lost in the 4th round to Simona Halep winning only 1 game in 46 minutes of play. The key was working with a sports psychologist and of it Iga said:
"I just believe that mental toughness is probably the most important thing in tennis right now because everybody can play on the highest level. But the ones that are tough and that can handle the pressure are the biggest ones."
She continued with:
"So I always wanted to develop in that way. I was working with some other psychologists, two probably when I was younger. But Daria was the best I could get because she just understands me very well and she knows me very well and she can kind of read my mind, which is weird."
And indeed the turnaround in her mental approach towards the game is visible. Her game is filled with confidence to which Iga said:
"She just makes my confidence level higher."
