Stefanos Tsitsipas was superb in his match against Dimitrov to reach
Roland Garros quarterfinals following a straight-sets victory.
Stefanos Tsitsipas has looked impressive as ever in his recent few matches at the Roland Garros and today he even looked better than that.
Grigor Dimitrov entered this match in decent form winning against some tough opposition en route to the 4th round. Today he wasn't very good and his issues started early. Tsitsias broke him in his first service game to take a 3-0 lead. He would maintain that lead throughout the set which he won with 6-3. The Greek played a conservative type of tennis allowing Dimitrov to take the initiative. He was aggressive and made 14 unforced errors compared to Stefano's 4 which proved key.
The 2nd set was the best set from Dimitrov who gave everything in it. His serving improved and his general play which saw markedly higher winning percentages on both his 1st and 2nd serve. Tsitsipas had similar stars which are why that set was settled in the tiebreak. It was a superb tiebreak by both of them with the Greek edging out Dimitrov 11-9 after a lengthy battle.
It was all Dimitrov had and it wasn't enough so his level dropped off considerably in the final set allowing Tsitsipas to take control of the match. He played a smart and composed style of tennis attacking Dimitrov who rushed from one error to another. He racked up 18 of them in a set he practically gave away 6-2. It was a strong display from Tsitsipas who moves on in Paris.
