Swiatek survives dramatic affair against Kerber in Indian Wells

Iga Swiatek survived a very dramatic affiar in Indian Wells against Angelique Kerber as she won 4-6 6-2 6-3.

It was a match she could have easily won and she almost did but Swiatek did what she has been doing all event long. As expected, it was a tough match for Swiatek who dropped sets in all matches she played this week. Not much changed in that regard in this match as she dropped the first set with 4-6. Kerber looked pretty good and covered the court well as Swiatek resorted to attacking.

That approach finally worked for Iga in the 2nd set as she was able to outplay her opponent completely to win the 2nd set with 6-2. Kerber opened the 3rd set much better and actually found herself a break up early and for a brief moment, it seemed like she would be able to pull off the amazing upset win. However Siwatek never gave up, and similar to previous rounds she battled back to make it 3-3.

She then won her own service game to take a 4-3 lead after which she broke Kerber to take a 5-3 lead. Finishing out the match with 6-3 was easy enough for her and she did so to move on.
