In one of the best matches of the BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells tournament thus far, Jenson Brooksby stunned World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas to advance to the fourth round late Monday night.
The 21-year old rallied from a set down to pull off a 1-6 6-3 6-2 against the fifth seed, and played probably the best tennis of his young career. Already touted as a future top player, Brooksby's speed and shot-making were on full display as he overcame his higher-ranked opponent.
"I thought I had a tough start out there,” said Brooksby. after the match “He played strong. I wasn't focusing and executing as well as I needed to."
The NextGen star outplayed Tsitsipas in the final two sets, as he consistent play frustrated the fifth seed into hitting errant shots. It appeared Brooksby had not only solved the Tsitsipas puzzle, but also formulated a game plan that took advantage of the Greek's weaknesses.
"I think my superpower would be exploiting weaknesses in other people,” added Brooksby.
