Swiatek won't get to face dream opponent: "I didn't have the honor of playing against her"

Iga Swiatek is disappointed that she never got to play Serena Williams because she considers Williams her ideal opponent.

Swiatek was able to follow much of William's career as a kid in Poland aspiring to be what Serena was at the time. Years later Swiatek is the number one player in the world just like Serena Williams but she never got her to wish of playing Williams on the court.

While they may yet share a court one day, it's unlikely to be in a competitive format as Williams is apparently done playing professional tennis. It's a shame because Swiatek wanted to really play her:

“If I could face one of the legends of women's tennis on a court, it would be Serena Williams without a doubt. Unfortunately, I didn't have the honour of playing against her.

She added:

"We also all admire Steffi Graf and Martina Navratilova, whom I met a year ago, they are great people."

The Polish player is back to training and already preparing for next year but she was able to squeeze in a 6-day vacation in Anguilla.
