After 35 matches unbeaten, Iga Swiatek confirmed herself as the outright leader on the WTA Tour with her second Roland Garros title but now she will go into the grass court season with no preparation it seems.
Swiatek was due to play an originally stacked field at the bett1Open Berlin which now sees Ons Jabeur, Maria Sakkari and Bianca Andreescu as leading names but due to recent discomfort in her shoulder, she has decided to withdraw.
"Due to a recurrent discomfort I am feeling in my shoulder, unfortunately I need to withdraw from the bett1open in Berlin. I'm sorry I will not be able to play there. I will focus on recovery and rest in order to be ready for Wimbledon," she said.
A player not known for her grass court prowess since juniors, it could be a run of form which could see her unbeaten streak come to an end.
