After winning multiple junior Grand Slams and also being part of the Rafael Nadal Academy,
Alexandra Eala has come with some hype and also a wildcard to the
Madrid Open but was quickly eased past by
Tatjana Maria.
The German Wimbledon semi-finalist sealed a 6-1, 6-1 win and handed a second loss to the Filipino in a main draw after she lost at Hua Hin in January.
They exchanged breaks to start the tie but the German went 2-1 up and firmly held serve for 3-1 before easing through the motions after surviving break points.
Eala looked to stay in the set but was broken for the fourth time at 6-1. In the second set, Maria recovered after going 3-1 up with Eala holding serve before breaking once more to serve for the match at 5-1. Next up is Bernarda Pera in the second round.
