Danielle Collins will look for a fairytale ending at the turn of the year when she ends her career at the
Billie Jean King Cup Finals doing so by representing Team USA in Seville.
Collins could feasibly play back-to-back albeit her recent form is likely set to be a deciding factor. After being one of the players of the season in the opening few months, she was in a good position to qualify for the WTA Finals.
But in reality, she is now sitting in eighth and is only just qualified right now. Those also playing in Riyadh including likely teammate Jessica Pegula who will play in Seville will likely play in back-to-back weeks. This in itself has turned Iga Swiatek off appearing again for another year.
The Pole hasn't played for the past three years while it is in its current slot with only really Pegula, Collins and Paolini out of those currently qualified on the list to play both.
But Collins spoke of her delight at representing Team USA both earlier this year in the Billie Jean King Cup and in particular the Olympic Games so likely will be the best ending possible. It is one though that won't include staples of the team in Coco Gauff and Emma Navarro.
Both likely to play in Riyadh, they have both decided as opposed to being left out by team captain Lindsay Davenport not to play. Peyton Stearns will step into one of the stops to represent Team USA who still have a strong team also including Taylor Townsend and Caroline Dolehide.
With or without Gauff and Navarro, they will be among the biggest title favourites and Collins could end her career with the Billie Jean King Cup title. Some end that would be for the player known as 'Danimal'.
