Garbine Muguruza US Open 2021
Garbine Muguruza defeated Andrea Petkovic at the US Open 6-4 6-2 and the Spaniard was content with the win.
The victory over Petkovic was 2nd victory for Muguruza at the 2021 US Open and it was a lot easier than the one over Vekic. Muguruza was somewhat lucky to escape in straight sets against Vekic. After the match Muguruza spoke about the relationship she has with Andrea saying:
"Andrea and I, we have spent so many times, so many hours on court together training. We know each other a lot. [She is] one of the nicest people on tour."
On the match she said:
"I just felt that it was difficult at some point to play, because, you get along well, but happy with my level. I think I played a very solid match from the beginning until the end."
Muguruza will need to keep raising her level at the event because it's not getting any easier. Her next opponent is Victoria Azarenka and on that match Garbine said:
"I think it's going to be a very difficult match. I'm so looking forward to those type of matches. I think I had two tough matches now, and if I have to play her it's going to be another one. I think that's the best, just to go out there and play with people that are top level."
