Fans
reacted to the suspension of the semifinal match at the
WTA Finals between
Aryna Sabalenka and
Iga Swiatek.
The
problems persist in Cancun during the Finals. The tournament has not provided
the best conditions for the tennis players due to delays in court construction
and the preparation of the infrastructure.
Moreover,
difficult weather conditions have added to the issues, with strong winds during
the matches and constant interruptions and suspensions of games due to rain.
It's worth noting that the central court does not have a roof.
Fans have
taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction, particularly after the
recent suspension of the semifinal match between Swiatek and Sabalenka, which
also led to the postponement of the final to Monday.
Additionally,
the doubles match between Coco Gauff/Jessica Pegula and Laura Siegemund/Vera
Zvonareva also had to wait an extra day to conclude, with the German-Russian
duo emerging victorious.
"Thought
it was impossible for a tournament to be worse than Rome, WTA Finals said hold
my beer"
"So
much at stake in this match for both Aryna and Iga, unbelievable
sh*tshow."
"Anyway
I need Steve Simon to be apologizing in a downtown Los Angeles hotel on this
fairly ugly carpet," some fan tweeted.
"Top
world tennis players sitting on court covered in towels hiding from the rain.
F***ing ridiculous. WTA you’ll pay for your crimes," the fan said.
"I
thought it was impossible for a tournament to be worse than Rome this year but
the WTA Finals really said hold my beer," the fan stated.
“#WTAFinals
Play has been cancelled for tonight. @WTAFinals @WTA did an incredible job to
choose the location this year 👏 Unfair to players, spectators, ball
kids and all staff involved. @TennisChannel”
“This
schedule shows how you completely disregard doubles players. Jessica is set to
play the singles final tomorrow and she may have to play 3 matches today? How
is that okay towards her?”
