The United States Tennis Association (USTA) have said that they still plan on hosting the US Open in the same time frame as usual and are not currently looking to move it to a new location.
This is amid rumours that the USTA were looking to move it due to New York being one of the worst hit areas; despite that, they could be changing different aspects with the event; such as no crowds.
The USTA said in the statement, per TSN Sports. "However, we recognise that we are all facing an uncertain and rapidly-changing environment regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, and therefore have been aggressively modelling many other contingencies, including scenarios with no fans."
"We are in continual contact with New York State and New York City officials and agencies; as well as meeting weekly; with our Medical Advisory Group to learn as much as we can and to properly assess this shifting situation," the USTA added.
"At this moment, our target date for a decision regarding the status of the US Open is six to eight weeks away (mid-June); we will continue to provide updates as appropriate."
