each, but it was the Belgian who capitalized on the opportunities she had and
took a 4-0 lead. Although Williams managed to hold her next service game, she
suffered another break, giving Minnen the set 6-1.
In the
second set, once again Minnen was dominant and secured two more breaks to take
a 5-0 lead. Williams managed to hold her service game again, but ultimately
conceded the set once more by a score of 6-1.
In the

a victory over the American Sachia Vickery. Vickery surprised by advancing
through the qualifiers and reentering the main draw of a Grand Slam after
failing to qualify in her last 11 attempts in Slam qualifiers.
