Former World No.1
Venus Williams appears to be in support of
Novak Djokovic amid the Serbian's immigration controversy, with the whole world watching as the case draws to a conclusion.
Djokovic was detained in Melbourne following a visa mix-up on his medical exemption form, but on Monday a judge reinstated his visa. The World No.1 is now expected to play at the
Australian Open, and the defending champion took to Instagram to share a message with his fans.
"I am pleased and grateful that the Judge overturned my visa cancellation," said Djokovic in the post. "Despite all that has happened in the past week, I want to stay and to try to compete at the Australian Open. I remain focused on that. I flew here to play at one of the most important events we have in front of the amazing fans.
For now I cannot say more but THANK YOU for standing with me through all this and encouraging me to stay strong,"
Seven-time singles Grand Slam champion Williams left a message for the 34-year old in the comments section, indicating she was rooting for the Serbian.
"Win it all!" wrote Williams.
With the controversy almost behind him, Djokovic looks set to focus on defending his crown at Melbourne Park.
