When Camila Giorgi throws her racquet, you know a match is getting spicy. She led Kaia Kanepi by 7-6(4), 4-3 on her own serve with a game point to go up 5-3 in Miami. These two actually seem to be hitting harder than usual today, if that’s possible.
Camila Giorgi battled Kaia Kanepi for almost four hours in the first round of the Miami Open ultimately winning the match but she was frustrated multiple times during the match.
Giorgi played better in this match but she also had moments where she completely threw away everything she worked for. We saw two tiebreaks and a third set where Giorgi threw away a big lead. In the middle of the second set, the Italian squandered some more chances and eventually lost her cool throwing her racquet to the middle of the court which earned her a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.
