Iga Swiatek has been seen practicing on the hotel courts in Cancun as the stadium that is set to be used for the WTA Finals in four days' time remains unfinished.
As WTA Finals draws nearer, several of the eight qualified players including Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, Ons Jabeur, and Marketa Vondrousova have already arrived to prepare ahead of battling it out amongst each other for the prestigious title.
The WTA decided on Cancun as the location for the Finals in September, from a list of contenders including Prague, Monterrey, Washington, and Saudi Arabia. The governing body then announced that they would be spending $6 million to build a new stadium in the Mexican city.

However, fans have since been sharing clips and photos showing that the venue remains unfinished just days before the tournament is set to begin on October 29. Many have been providing daily updates on the stadium and have been asking the WTA about practice courts for the players.
Now, a video has emerged of four-time Grand Slam champion Swiatek, who was the first player to arrive in Cancun, practising on the hotel courts.
"Iga Swiatek practising on the hotel courts in Cancun, they have been resurfaced with the same colour combo for the main stadium," one fan wrote on X.
Several fans have expressed their concern, openly wondering whether or not the hotel would replace the main stadium once the tournament began.
"This may be the match court if they don’t finish that stadium," wrote one.
Swiatek competed at the 2021 WTA Finals in Guadalajara, Mexico and the 2022 edition in Fort Worth, Texas, but is yet to lift the trophy at the event.
The tournament's official social media later shared clips of various other players practicing on the hotel courts, including Rybakina and Jabeur.
