Although
Sloane Stephens fell to
Coco Gauff in an All-American quarterfinal showdown at
Roland Garros, this has not stopped the former World No.3 from showering her compatriot with support.
Following the encounter, which Gauff won 7-5 6-2, Stephens opened up about her performance during the post-match press conference. The 2017 US Open champion was asked who was the favorite between Gauff and Italian
Martina Trevisan, as both ladies will be meeting in one of the semifinals.
Known for her hilarious responses, Stephens did not fail to disappoint, charming the room while showing support for the 18-year old Gauff.
Reporter: "Who is the favorite between Gauff and Trevisan?'
Stephens: "Well I'm sorry but it's not Trevisan. Not my favorite."
Gauff and Trevisan last met in Paris two years ago, with the Italian prevailing in a tight three-setter in the second round. However, Gauff has been in great form over the past two weeks, and is yet to drop a set at the French Open. Similarly, Trevisan has lost just one set on her way to the final four.
