It will be hard to top this iconic moment from Australian Open ceremony
Amid Aryna Sabalenka's win at the 2024 Australian Open, a moment from a previous winners' ceremony was unearthed again and went viral when Naomi Osaka defeated Jennifer Brady in the 2021 Australian Open final.
Sabalenka saw off Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 6-2 in the final. The Belarusian successfully defended her title and became the first women's player in a decade to do so and joined her compatriot Victoria Azarenka in going back-to-back. Known for her superb speeches including when she was thrashed by Elena Rybakina in the final of Brisbane, it was much more a tame affair this time for Sabalenka.
But fans on social media instead looked back at the hilarious mix-up with Brady three years ago which saw Osaka after winning 6-4, 6-3 asking if she preferred Jenny or Jennifer to which the American responded the former and Osaka still called her Jennifer which the fan who shared it said would be hard to top as a moment.
"Firstly, I want to congratulate Jennifer. We played in the semis of the US Open...," Osaka said.
