(VIDEO) No Pizza for Paolini after Dubai triumph: "It's too late, I don't care about pizza tonight"

Jasmine Paolini is the champion at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships after downing Anna Kalinskaya 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, but despite the win, one Italian dish won't be on the menu tonight as it is too late to eat.

Paolini was down 4-6, 2-4 in her first round, but fought her way to the final and was down a break in the second set against Kalinskaya but fought back. She was then down 3-5 in the third set and fought back as the Russian couldn't find the afterburners to move through.

Quizzed after winning the final about whether she will have the pizza she has been waiting for until she played the tie, she said that it is simply too late and isn't the first thought on her mind. “It’s too late. I don’t care about pizza tonight. It's ok, to have the trophy in my hands is enough." 

She will move up into the top 15 after the win and perhaps that is the topping that is needed for Paolini on her metaphorical Dubai pizza alongside the trophy.
