Jessica Pegula had a hilarious reaction to a fan's selfie troubles following her victory against Elina Svitolina in the quarter-finals of the DC Open.

Word No. 4 Pegula had a strong run at the WTA 500 event in Washington. After defeating Peyton Stearns in the opening round, the American took on former world No. 3 Svitolina, winning in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Top-seeded Pegula then reached the semi-finals where she faced fourth seed Maria Sakkari. Whilst Pegula managed to win the second set, Sakkari took the first and third, winning the match 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 and advancing to the final where the Greek player will face Pegula's doubles partner Coco Gauff.

Pegula makes light of fan's selfie problems

Following her quarter-final win, Pegula interacted with fans in the crowd, signing autographs and taking selfies.

However, one fan's reaction did not go as smoothly as planned. While trying to take a selfie with the American No. 1, they struggled to get everyone in the frame due to the considerable distance between the stands and Pegula, who was on the court.

Pegula didn't mind, however, and patiently tried to help the fan turn their camera to the best position.

In a video of the interaction posted on social media, Pegula can be heard saying:

"If you go the other way, it’s better. Like turn. No, like turn your body. No, no, no, no."

Thankfully, the player had help from a young girl, presumably the fan's daughter, who understood her instructions.

Finally, the fan was able to take their selfie, and Pegula later reacted to the funny encounter on social media, writing 'Tough' followed by a laughing emoji.
