Danielle Collins suffered a shock 6-1, 3-6, 3-6 defeat against Erika Andreeva last night at the Abierto GNP Seguros (Monterrey Open). But had issues with the crowd throughout.

Collins who returned for the first time since injury at the Olympic Games was defeated by the older sister of the 17-year-old prodigious talent who hasn't yet hit the heights of her younger sister.

It was a first top 20 win for Andreeva and is a landmark moment. But a pivotal moment saw Collins waiting to serve in the third set. She heard something from the stands and raised her arms into the air.

She asked a section of the crowd what was going on as they had been seemingly causing issues all match including to Andreeva. The World No.11 has endured a renaissance of her career as it comes to an end. But she has struggled with injuries as of late.

“What in the world? I don’t get it. It’s not that hard to let us play tennis and, like, be supportive,” she said.

Technically her next event in the US Open could be her end point, it will be her last Grand Slam at any rate. She could also play the WTA Finals which she has been in the reckoning for thanks to her great season.

But perhaps this defeat is also not unexpected due to her recent injury issues and Andreeva herself playing quite well as she starts to find her feet under the shadow of Mirra.
