The 2024 Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey will head to a WTA 500 for the first time this year and between 19-24 August, 2024. It will feature $922,573 in prize money.
The event returns this year with its 16th edition. The top seeds involved include Danielle Collins, Emma Navarro and Elina Svitolina. Albeit the likes of Donna Vekic and Jasmine Paolini withdrew before the tournament losing some star power.
Besides those names, Ekaterina Alexandrova, Veronika Kudermetova, Linda Noskova are also among the seeds. The winner of the event gets $142,000 owing to the increase in status The losing player in the final gets $57,655 with the semi-finalists getting $51,204. It will be 500 points to the winner.
The tournament began in 2009 and is played on outdoor hard courts at Club Sonoma. It has grown in prominence over the years, initially classified as a WTA 250 event, but it was upgraded to a WTA 500 event in 2024, reflecting its increased significance on the tour.
