Britain’s young tennis star Emma Raducanu is hoping that the change in training method will bring her more success on the court in 2025. The 21-year-old was once regarded as the next big thing, especially when she lifted the US Open at the age of 18 in 2021.

The most impressive aspect of Raducanu’s triumph was the fact that she started the campaign through the qualifying round and still managed to lift the title after beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-3.

Since then, however, things have not gone as planned for Raducanu, largely because of fitness concerns. The former world number 10 return to the court in 2024 after a lengthy injury layoff but failed to produce consistent results. The one-time Grand Slam winner has been recently quoted in a report by Sky Sports where she expressed optimism that the change coaching methods will help her produce better results in 2025. She also went on to highlight the importance of having own space and understanding between the members of the coaching staff.

"It is important that everyone meshes well together," said Raducanu just before the start of the Australian Open. "You spend so much time with the people you work with that of course it's important to have a good rapport and get on. I think where me and Yutaka are very similar is we're very dedicated and, even with our long days, we always stay motivated, we motivate each other and feed off of the energy, which is great to have because not many people are so committed that from 8am in the morning to 8pm at night, over and over, you're still showing up with the same attitude and mentality. That has been really good for me and a constant, and someone who's been really reliable. I'm someone who loves my own space as well. I'm a bit of black cat, that's how some people would describe me. During the day when you're on site or training, you're literally with them the whole time. But I think it's important that in the morning I'll take a walk by myself, go get a coffee on my own, or go for a walk in the evening. I seem to be walking a lot."
