It was indeed a special victory for the Atlanta-born who also defeated the world number one Iga Swiatek in the semifinal with a score of 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
It was the fifth title at the highest level for the Gauff and she will be hoping to use this victory in order to bring her A-game in the upcoming US Open.
The fourth and the final Grand Slam of the year will begin in less than 10 day’s time where players from all over the world will showcase their talent and fight for the ultimate glory.
Gauff’s record at the US Open is not a great one where her best outing to date was last year where she was defeated in the quarterfinal by France’s Caroline Garcia in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

wow. what a week it has been! I won my biggest title to date two weeks ago and you know I had to double itttt😝 (tik tok joke) In all seriousness, I am so thankful for all the support cincy has given me this week. Thank you God for covering me. #WTA1000
