French tennis star
Caroline Garcia faces a big few months
despite having some average time on the court in the recent past.
The 29-year-old had a poor outing in the recently concluded
Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern Open) where she was knocked out from
the round of 16 after losing to America’s Sloane Stephens with a score of 4-6,
6-4, 6-4.
Those results, however, have not dented Garcia’s overall
ranking points and therefore, the player is now facing some big months ahead
when she is due to take part in the
US Open and the WTA Finals.
Good performances there will help her keep the number seven
spot in the WTA rankings or she might even improve that depending on other
results whereas poor outings in either of those events will see her rankings
drop.
Garcia does have a good record while playing at the US Open
as last year she played in the semifinal — her only last-four appearance at a
Grand Slam — where she lost to Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in straight sets with a
score of 6-1, 6-3.
This year, the Saint-Germain-en-Laye-born was knocked out
from the fourth round in the Australian Open, the second round in the French Open
and the third round at Wimbledon.
