Victoria Azarenka has reacted negatively to a post by Tennis Channel after their Quarter-Final clash at the Brisbane International which was won by the 34-year-old two-time Grand Slam champion 6-3, 3-6, 7-5.
One of the main moments of the match saw Ostapenko involved in a double bounce fiasco in which she had a go at the umpire and went berserk telling her she would never umpire her matches again. But it wasn't just Ostapenko who was unhappy as Azarenka was also not left best pleased by a social media post after the match which she dubbed 'embarrassing'.
"You are blind, it is impossible to play when you make so much mistakes. I never want you at my match again, you will never be at my match," Ostapenko said to chair umpire Julie Kjendlie. In response to the cold handshake, it read from Tennis Channel: "This is for the, I'm Just Here For The Handshake crowd."
But Azarenka in particular took umbrage to this quote tweeting it with some damning words with the original tweet swiftly deleted but not before it was screenshotted and published online by multiple accounts on X. "There is an actual crowd like that? Sad... What an embarrassing post," Azarenka wrote. So it seems after the Ostapenko dramas and with Azarenka words, don't cross either player.
