Barbora Krejcikova scored an impressive win over
Iga Swiatek, one that is quite historic considering the circumstances and she talked about it after the match.
It's the second time in a row that Krejcikova defeats Swiatek in a final which is quite remarkable in itself because both wins happened at a time when she is dominating tennis. This performance was an amazing one as she was able to make Swiatek uncomfortable once more and it showed on the court.
After the match, Krejcikova said:
"I think I showed my best tennis this week. I'm really happy with the way how I
played, how I was able to play my tennis but also hold the nerves, just
enjoy everything that was happening during this week on the court."
With the win, Krejcikova became only the 5th player ever to defeat top 3 seeds at an event en route to a trophy and on that, she said:
"It's a huge privilege. It's a
big achievement and I think it's going to give me a lot of confidence
that I can play with the best ones."
On the match itself, she said:
"I love challenges. When there is somebody that is
really tough, I just love to go out there and see where I am, if I can
beat this player, if I cannot beat this player. It just gives me extra,
extra push. When you play with Iga, you have to suffer, otherwise you're not
going to win because she's everywhere. She plays great shots. She likes
to play long rallies. So you have to suffer. I don't mind that."
