Tennis commentator brutal on Thiem's struggles: "I agree that he will not get back to the top 10 ever"

Dominic Thiem has been struggling to get back to his best level and tennis commentator Geoff Chizever thinks he won't ever make it back to the top 10.

It's a pretty bold prediction because Thiem has been in the top 10 for a very long time but for now, it seems unlikely that he'll ever hit that peak again. More and more players are coming through and even some other players like Medvedev have recently slid out of the top 10. According to Chizever it simply shows the brutality of the sport:

"It's so brutal to watch. I feel so bad and I think, instead of being that negative on Thiem, I think Thiem's struggle tells you so much about how brutal tennis is."

He added:

"I agree [that Thiem will not get back to the top 10 of the ATP rankings ever]. I watched him in Davis Cup and that was indoor tennis. So, it's not where he wants to be. When he lost to Borna Coric, that's a fine loss. He lost to Borna Gojo. On paper, not a great loss. But, when I watched it, it was like, it made sense why he lost."

He concluded with:

"I just like to chalk it up for how incredibly difficult the sport of tennis is. It's just crazy."
