Serena Williams and Bianca Andreescu are set for a hotly anticipated clash between the generations with the legendary American set for a 24th Grand Slam title while for the young Canadian it could be her first.

In Toronto, a back injury blighted Williams who had to withdraw from proceedings during the final; which put her in tears but she was comforted by the 19 year old; who she now considers a friend.
Both players will want to put this aside in a battle that many expected to happen before the tournament. As well as the Rogers Cup, it has been a golden season for Andreescu who has gone over 20 matches unbeaten and she will hope to use that form against Williams.
Williams on the other hand gets another crack at winning a 24th; she will want to put last year's final behind her after the fracas with Naomi Osaka who went onto win.
If she does win, she will tie level with Margaret Court before she aims to surpass that to become the most successful player of all time.
For Andreescu though it's very much a fairytale story with her losing twelve months ago in qualifying at Flushing Meadows and was ranked outside the top 200 in the world.
Fast forward a year and she will be in the top ten in the World come Monday and has won nearly £2m in prize money. She will hope to continue that when it comes to tonight in what could be a really close encounter between two of the best right now.
