Rafael Nadal outplayed Matteo Berrettini in the semifinals at the US Open 7-6, 6-4 and 6-1 to reach another final in New York.

Berrettini, who defeated Monfils and Rublev in the previous rounds to reach the first US Open semifinal, started the match with the Spaniard well. The result of the first set was decided by a tie-break in which Berrettini took the lead with 4-0 and 5-2. But Rafa showed his experience and managed to win 8-6 and after the match he said:
"The first set was a little frustrating because I had a lot of break points before the tie-break and he didn't have any. In the tie-break I was a little lucky because he had 5/2 and 4/0. But I survived at that moment and I finally got the break in the second and then the match completely changed," Nadal said during his on-court interview. "I started to play with more calm and be more aggressive. I'm super happy to be back in the final of the US Open."
In the other sets Nadal already dominated, by winning 6-4 and 6-1. Berrettini did not get a single break ball in the match and after two and a half hours Nadal advanced to the finals, where he meets Daniil Medvedev, who defeated Grigor Dimitrov in the semifinals.
