Iga Swiatek will not potentially face Petra Kvitova at the 2022
Madrid Open after all with the World No.1 withdrawing from the latest clay-court warm-up due to a right shoulder injury.
Swiatek has been the dominant force in WTA tennis this season and is currently on a 23-match win streak after winning a fourth consecutive title at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix.
She also added three WTA 1000 tournaments in the Qatar Total Open, BNP Paribas Open, and Miami Open with the lattert wo seeing her become the youngest woman to win the Sunshine Double.
She is due to speak to reporters in Madrid on Wednesday regarding her injury to give further details on whether it will hamper her Roland Garros preparation.
This means the qualifier who was due to face Swiatek will now go through to face Kvitova or Jil Teichmann.
