WTA Draw confirmed for 2022 Madrid Open: Badosa-Halep and Swiatek-Kvitova potential standout second round clashes

The draw has been made for a stacked field at the 2022 Madrid Open which is due to take place from Apr 28 - May 7, 2022 and sees Iga Swiatek aiming to continue her incredible streak in the run-up to the French Open.
She faces either Jil Teichmann or a potential standout clash with Petra Kvitova if Swiatek gets through a qualifier.
Second seed on home soil is Paula Badosa and she faces Veronika Kudermetova, while Simona Halep faces Zhang Shuai with the potential for a second round tie between the pair, while Garbine Muguruza gets one of the toughest ties on her return to the court as she faces Ajla Tomljanovic.
Maria Sakkari faces Madison Keys with a potential second round against Leylah Fernandez or Daria Kasatkina.
Naomi Osaka could face Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or Sara Sorribes Tormo if she gets past a qualifier to begin the tournament. While for Emma Raducanu, she is set to face Tereza Martincova once more with a tough second round to follow with Marta Kostyuk facing Clara Tauson.
Bianca Andreescu in her second tournament back will face Alison Riske with Danielle Collins or a returning Monica Puig set to await in the second round for the winner.

- Having spent weeks and weeks through the years on tour, I can say with confidence that Conchita was (is) one of the very few who realize the surprising level of maturity (and sometimes lack of) which Mirra seems to have developed in such a demanding adult world of Pro-Tennis. While at the same time reminding herself (Conchita, that is) that Mirra is still young and developing mentally and physically. The general public may forget at times, or not at all realize, these modern era young athletes do not have a 'normal' Youth. It's a major sacrifice, among countless sacrifices, these athletes must make.
