Former world number one Denmark’s
Caroline Wozniacki gathered
a lot of support from the crowd as she continued her preparation for the
upcoming US Open.
The 33-year-old has recently come out of retirement after a
break of three years and has put in some decent performances as well.
Wozniacki shared a story on her official Instagram account
of a fan where the fans sitting in the arena are cheering for her as she
prepares for the upcoming mega-event.
The fourth and final Grand Slam of the year is set to begin
in less than five days’ time where players from all over the world will showcase
their talent.
Since her return, Wozniacki suffered a second-round exit
from the National Bank Canadian Open after losing to newly-crowned Wimbledon
champion Marketa Vondrousova of Czech Republic with a score of 6-2, 7-5.
In the recently concluded Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern
Open), the Odense-born lost the opening round fixture against France’s Varvara
Gracheva in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
Wozniacki has an impressive record while playing at the
Flashing Medows where she finished runner-up twice.
In 2009, she lost to Belgium’s Kim Clijsters with a score of
7-5, 6-3 whereas in 2014 she came second-best against America’s Serena Williams
with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
