WTA Draw confirmed for National Bank Open Toronto including Swiatek, Fernandez, Serena Williams, Andreescu, Osaka and Raducanu

The WTA Draw has been confirmed ahead of National Bank Open Toronto which will take place between Aug 8 - 14, 2022 and runs parallel with the men's tournament which is held in Montreal.

Iga Swiatek as World Number One is top seed and faces either Veronika Kudermetova or Shelby Rogers in the opening round. Leylah Fernandez makes her long awaited return to action and will face a qualifier and then potentially Beatriz Haddad Maia or Martina Trevisan, two stars of the grass and clay court season respectively.

Serena Williams could face Victoria Azarenka in a former rivalry renewed if she can get past a qualifier and the latter faces Belinda Bencic. Albeit the Belarusian is currently playing in the sweltering heat in Washington so may not be at her best.

Naomi Osaka also is set to play in Canada and could face Garbine Muguruza if she can get past Kaia Kanepi. Maria Sakkari is third seed and awaits either Sloane Stephens or Sofia Kenin.

Bianca Andreescu returns home after her famous run in 2019 where she beat Serena Williams in the final and then won the US Open. But faces Daria Kasatkina in her opener.

Another former US Open champion is Emma Raducanu and she takes on Camila Giorgi in her opener. Coco Gauff and Simona Halep both face qualifiers. While Venus Williams faces Swiss ace Jil Teichmann.
