The draw has been confirmed ahead of National Bank Open Montreal also known traditionally as the Rogers Cup taking place between August 8-14, 2022.
The ATP section takes place in Montreal with the WTA in Toronto. Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev and Novak Djokovic are the main players to miss out.
Nadal was the latest today to announce his withdrawal due to ongoing issues surrounding his abdominal tear. While for Djokovic, it is surrounding his vaccination status and Zverev is still recovering from injury.
As a result
Daniil Medvedev is top seed and receives a bye facing either Sebastian Baez or a block buster tie with
Nick Kyrgios. Other ties to watch in this half include Stan Wawrinka - Emil Ruusuvuori, Alexander Bublik - Jenson Brooksby and Cameron Norrie - Brandon Nakashima.
Carlos Alcaraz will be number two seed this year and takes on either Tommy Paul or Vasek Pospisil. Reilly Opelka takes on a returning Gael Monfils in the same part of the draw as Aslan Karatsev and Maxime Cressy.
Holger Rune will face a qualifier to begin his campaign before either Pablo Carreno-Busta or Matteo Berrettini await in Round Two. Similarly tough and in the same part of the draw as Alcaraz sees Marin Cilic face Borna Coric with the winner facing in-form Fran Cerundolo or Karen Khachanov.
