WTA Ranking Update after French Open: Iga Swiatek continues mammoth lead with milestones for Gauff and Paolini

The WTA Ranking has been updated after the French Open with milestones for Coco Gauff and Jasmine Paolini as well as continued excellence for Iga Swiatek.

Swiatek extends her lead over the rest of the field and now sits 3,707 points clear of her closest rival which is now Coco Gauff. The American reached the semi-finals of the French Open and as a result of going one better than Sabalenka shifts ahead with the rest of the top five remaining the same.

Gauff's ascendancy into World No.2 has been set for some time. Similar to Jannik Sinner becoming World No.1 in the ATP Ranking, it has been when as opposed to if she becomes World No.2 and after chances in recent months have gone begging, she is now there alongside Swiatek. Further down Jasmine Paolini also stars.

The Italian has jumped eight places to make her debut in the top 10. She sits at World No.7 now just ahead of Qinwen Zheng and behind Jessica Pegula and Marketa Vondrousova. Interestingly though, she has scope to gain with the latter a potential casualty defending a scope of Wimbledon winner's points with zero form.

Maria Sakkari after losing in the first round, Ons Jabeur despite a good run and Danielle Collins also in similar circumstances to the Greek drop out of the top 10 after their early exits at Roland Garros. Outside of the top 10, Emma Navarro is into the top 20. She moves up to World No.18 for a new career high ranking. Beatriz Haddad Maia ahead of a favoured surface in grass falls six spots to World No.20. Whilst Mirra Andreeva is up to a new career high of World No.23 in the world going up 15 spots.

Marta Kostyuk moves up to World No.18 and also a new career high. Same can be said for Clara Burel in 42nd, Moyuka Uchijima in 76th. Whilst Olga Danilovic despite not reaching a career high was one of the big movers, she goes up 18 spots to World No.107 after her superb run in Paris.

Big winners further down include Sofia Kenin who is up 11 spots into the top 50, Ana Bogdan who moves up 15 into the top 50 just about. Xiyu Wang up 10 into 51st and Varvara Gracheva who is up 17 to 71st. Katie Volynets also moved up 31 spots to World No.77.

Paula Badosa moves up another 21 spots after reaching the Last 32. She is just behind Caroline Wozniacki in World No.118. Naomi Osaka also sits in that pack also up nine spots to World No.125 but likely has the most scope for improvement out of any of those players with a loss to Iga Swiatek having match point. Bianca Andreescu on her return doesn't add to her tally.

Some of the big losers included Karolina Muchova from being top 10, her points have basically dropped off. She reached the final last year and is now down to World No.35 with another chunk from the US Open to come off if she doesn't return and arrest the slide. Elina Avanesyan such is her run last year lost eight spots despite reaching the Last 16. She is down to World No.78. A lowly ranking for a player on the rise. Other losses include Lesia Tsurenko falling 14 spots to World No.59 and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova fell 26 spots to World No.80.
