WTA Ranking Update: Fall out from WTA Elite Trophy as Beatriz Haddad Maia closes in on top 10 return, new career high for Qinwen Zheng

Limited action going into the WTA Finals means that the WTA Elite Trophy is the main topic for the weekly WTA Ranking Update.

This WTA Ranking Update sees Beatriz Haddad Maia and Qinwen Zheng as the main movers just outside the top ten after the WTA Elite Trophy.

Haddad Maia in particular who has had a torrid few months with accidents in Guadalajara and loss of form capped off an otherwise best season of her career to date with a ranking of #11. She is less than 30 points from usurping Barbora Krejcikova as well.

If Krejickova hadn't added points in Zhuhai, Haddad Maia would already be back inside the top 10 which is a career high. Speaking of Qinwen Zheng who reached the final in Zhuhai is up inside the top 15.

It could've even been the top 10 had she won this past weekend, but it is a likely feat that beckons early next season as she goes up three spots.

This means too falls for Madison Keys, Petra Kvitova, Liudmila Samsonova, Belinda Bencic, Daria Kasatkina and Veronika Kudermetova despite many of them playing in Zhuhai.

Further down, big gainers include Lin Zhu with four spots to go into 33rd. Emma Navarro continues to creep up and sits in a new career high of 38. She won a tournament in Tyler over the weekend.

Mirra Andreeva also goes up one to a new best of 46th, with Elisabetta Cocciaretto falling 14 spots proving to be the tonic for many players around her to move up. Titles for Magdalena Frech (63) and Emina Bektas (82) have also given them not only new career highs but huge rises of 16 and 22 spots. Anna Kalinskaya also continues to rise back up losing in the Tampico final, but going up 16 spots.
