Emma Raducanu will miss Roland Garros due to her injuries and she has been advised by former player
Laura Robson not to watch the event as it goes on.
Raducanu is away from tennis after undergoing triple surgery for her injuries recently. She won't be playing at Roland Garros or Wimbledon this year and former player Laura Robson has some advice for her. The Brit admitted that she used to watch matches when she was injured but now understands that it's not a good idea.
Avoid Watching It
Robson has some experience with being injured as she had injuries herself during her career. When she was injured, Robson usually watched matches of events she couldn't play:
“I always watched it, actually. Yeah, probably not the best decision. You have so much Fomo [fear of
missing out] all the time. Like, everyone was playing these huge
matches, and I just wanted to see what the level was. I wanted to see
the storylines unfold, I was always a tennis fan first and foremost. Almost every player that I know, when they get back from a long day at Wimbledon, they switch on the TV and they watch more tennis. Maybe you have a multi-screen going on at once during the early rounds. Even though it can be draining, everyone’s a glutton for punishment.”
Raducanu's rehab
Turning her attention to Raducanu's rehab, Robson explained that she is likely enjoying this time away from the sport after going non-stop since her US Open triumph. She either player or rehaben and now has finally time to really step away a bit and not focus on anything tennis related:
“It seems like Emma is having a bit of a break, which is probably quite nice after going non-stop from the US Open all the way through. The rehab after an operation is never easy. So in this first stage where you actually can't do very much, I think it's so important to relax a little bit.”
