Novak Djokovic finished his match against Tomas Martin Etcheverry at 2:37am local time last night at the Paris Masters, but Casper Ruud has taken aim as the World No.1 is set to return in an earlier slot on Thursday evening.
Djokovic will face off against Tallon Griekspoor for a spot in the Quarter-Finals after seeing off Etcheverry 6-3, 6-2 in a match slated to start at around 19:30 CET. But Ruud has called the 14.5 hours that Djokovic has received to recover 'a joke'.
His Norwegian rival who himself lost out yesterday and now will fall out of the top ten sarcastically took aim at the ATP Tour for not helping one of the best players in the world to recover adequately after being hoisted into the night session slot in the first place.
Instead, this is a slot that will likely be taken by Holger Rune or Dominic Thiem facing Daniel Altmaier in a match slated to conclude the night session after Djokovic.
"Bravo ATP Tour, way to help one of the best players in the world recover and be as ready as possible when he finished his previous match at 2:37 am this morning 14,5 hours to recover.. what a joke," said Ruud.
