The 2021
Hamburg European Open will run from July 12th till July 18th featuring players like
Felix Auger-Aliassime and
Pablo Carreno Busta.
The ATP 500 in Hamburg was one of the rare events that was held in 2020 despite the pandemic with a very strong field. In 2021 the field won't be as strong as the event is happening one week before the Olympic Games. Most players will be in Tokyo getting ready for the major event but notable names like Auger-Aliassime and Pablo Carreno Busta still committed.
The defending champion is Andrey Rublev who won the trophy 2020 after a sensational comeback win over Stefanos Tsitsipas who practically had the trophy in hand. Neither player will play in 2021 as of now. Two-time champion
Nikoloz Basilashvili (2018,2019) will return to the event in a bid to win it his 3rd time.
Other notable players include Aslan Karatsev, Filip Krajinovic, Dusan Lajovic, Lorenzo Sonego and Jan-Lennard Struff.
As well as a wildcard for Stefanos Tsitsipas as he gets back into action after his Wimbledon disappointment.
