Stefanos Tsitsipas takes Hamburg European Open wild card

Stefanos Tsitsipas has had an immense clay season in 2021 winning several trophies while also reaching the French Open final. The loss in the final had a negative effect on Tsitsipas who arrived to London without playing a single grass match and it showed.

He was easily bested by Francis Tiafoe in straight sets in the Wimbledon first round and it continued a bad stretch of result for Stefanos on grass. Before heading out to Tokyo to represent Greece at the Olympic Games Tsitsipas will play at the Hamburg European Open.

The Greek accepted a wild card into the main draw due to him loving the event. He reached the final last year and was very close to victory serving for the match in the 3rd set against Rublev but ultimately lost it to the Russian. He will try to do better this time before heading out to the Olympics.
