John McEnroe was asked about
Andy Murray and his tennis showed in London and the American was doubtful about Murray's body holding up.
Andy Murray played at Wimbledon and he played well for the most part. His journey ended in the 3rd round against Denis Shapovalov who bested him in three easy sets. Asked about Murray's level John McEnroe said:
“It just really depends on can the body take it. I’m not a doctor but he’s got a metal hip, you’re 34, there’s a
lot of wear and tear on that body. We want to see him go out on the terms he wants to go out on. Ultimately, you have to get on the court."
McEnroe also touched upon the fact the tour shifts to the hard courts now which will be tough on Murray and his body. He also said Murray will need to play as much as possible to see how far he can go. He said:
“The most important step in tennis is the first one. You need an explosion. If you don’t have that, you’re done. Murray is in the top six to eight movers ever for me. That way of playing is
extremely difficult to do when you feel deep down you’ve lost
something.”
