For the 10th time in their careers, Novak Djokovic and Stefanos Tsitsipas will square off today in the Rome Masters final.
Both played spectacular tennis to get to the finals and both will feel like they can win this. Stefanos Tsitsipas had a pretty good week in Rome but his road to the final was a bit bumpy. He almost choked away the win against Dimitrov, he struggled a bit against Khachanov but the last few matches have been great. He smashed Sinner and he overcame a slow start against Zverev.
That win over Zverev might be the confidence booster he needs ahead of this final. Djokovic on the other hand had a pretty routine week. With each match, he elevated his level and eventually it culminated with a superb performance against Casper Ruud. Djokovic is pretty close to his peak and he is widely expected to win this matchup.
He leads Stefanos 6-3 so far and he won all four of their clay matchups. One happened last year in Rome with Djokovic winning it in three sets. Something similar might happen again as Tsitsipas has a glaring weakness in his backhand that Novak can attack. He also returns exceptionally well and that is a problem for Tsitsipas who relies on his serve a lot. Either way, it's going to be a great final and don't miss it. 16:00 CET today.
