The 2023 Rolex
Paris Masters looks like it will shape up to be very exciting as every Top 10 player has been scheduled to take to the courts at the final ATP 1000 tournament of the season. This is the first time since the US Open that each player has been present.
World No. 1
Novak Djokovic will head up the field, with his first appearance on the ATP Tour since he won his record 24th Grand Slam title at Flushing Meadows. Fans will be anticipating another epic clash between the 36-year-old and World No. 2
Carlos Alcaraz.
There were concerns about whether or not Alcaraz would make it to Paris after he withdrew from the Swiss Indoors Basel this week due to two separate injuries. However, he has since provided an update in which he confirmed that he will be ready for the tournament.
First and foremost, the Spaniard will be aiming to secure any possibility to overtake Djokovic as year-end No. 1, so he is likely to be extra motivated in Paris.
Rune hopes for title defense as several set sights on Turin
The third, fourth, and fifth seeds are Daniil Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, and Andrey Rublev, all of whom have already secured their spots at the Nitto
ATP Finals in Turin, which will take place from November 12 -19.
Meanwhile, the latter half of the Top 10 will be aiming to join them with a good performance in Paris. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Alexander Zverev, and
Holger Rune are currently sixth, seventh, and eighth in the race to Turin, while Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud will be trying to push themselves into a qualification spot.
Meanwhile, World No. 6 Rune will have the extra pressure of attempting to defend his title. The 20-year-old shocked the tennis world when he defeated Djokovic in last year's final, but he has struggled on the circuit in recent months.
The Dane has not put back-to-back wins together since Wimbledon in July, but recently added Boris Becker to his coaching team in the hopes of ending 2023 on a high note.
