After a pretty epic day on the main show courts, the 2024 French Open will continue on Thursday hopefully with some of the main ties that were missed during Wednesday's action with as many as 63 ties needing to be played.
Our preview looks ahead to proceedings including the main matches to watch as Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic and Elena Rybakina continue their campaigns.
Whilst the Outer Courts will be full of players who will be continuing ties or starting ties that weren't completed on Wednesday, it will be the turn of Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka who were all always pencilled in to continue their campaigns on Thursday to take Centre Stage.
Sabalenka begins the day against a Japanese qualifier Moyuka Uchijima who came through perhaps the one tie that people had little info on as she faced Irene Burillo Escorihuela. It will be a really uphill task this one. The World No.2 takes execution of her power to new heights when playing unknown or lesser ranked players. She showed that against Erika Andreeva and will aim to do so again on Thursday.
Novak Djokovic interestingly won't play at night. He instead will end the day session in a tough tie against Roberto Carballes Baena. As he has admitted himself, it is often not the first round or so which is the issue at the moment. It is the second round onwards so this will be the real test against an experienced campaigner. Can he produce a statement? Prior to that, it is 2023 Quarter-Finalist, Elina Svitolina who will aim to quell home hopes when she faces Diane Parry. It is a very G.E.M.S Life day as they used to be known.
Like last time, Svitolina will rush from her match to then watch her husband Gael Monfils albeit more time to do so. He faces Lorenzo Musetti in the Night Session on Thursday.
Once again on the second show court and the one with the pleated skirt as a roof, it is perhaps a better line-up. Daniil Medvedev made people laugh with his incredible outfit during the Night Session the other day and he will start in the morning so may need it again. He faces Miomir Kecmanovic.
Elena Rybakina won't face Angelique Kerber, but instead takes on Arantxa Rus and will aim likely after Aryna Sabalenka plays to share her statement. She has done so to the press this week with her incredible retort to journalists about asking the same questions. But will it be the same answers of an emphatic win?
Alexander Zverev who quelled Rafael Nadal will perhaps face a player who is on the opposite end. David Goffin had some choice words about the French crowd and so as a result will likely not be well received. The former will likely be the hero for once. Before Madison Keys continues her campaign against Mayar Sherif
There are a lot of matches that have either not been completed or even started also on other courts as they race to get through them even though the weather is abysmal again.
Victoria Azarenka will aim to show her experience in one of the top ties of the day against 17-year-old prodigy, Mirra Andreeva. True popcorn that one. As is the new girlfriend of Jannik Sinner in Anna Kalinskaya who will aim to follow her boyfriends lead when she faces one of her close friends ironically. The returning Bianca Andreescu. She spoke of looking forward to seeing her again on recent comments, but gets to meet her earlier than expected and on the court.
Holger Rune also faces Flavio Cobolli, Peyton Stearns takes on Daria Kasatkina, Also Ben Shelton will finally conclude the Kei Nishikori clash which was at 5-5 and sent courts into overflow during Wednesday before rain ruined the day. That is Thursday's schedule, if it ever gets played.
