The Main Draw of the Monte-Carlo Masters kicks off in full on Monday after a smattering of matches on Sunday as well as the conclusion of qualifying. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Grigor Dimitrov among others are involved as the schedule has been confirmed.
Our preview takes you through the main matches to watch as well as the leading talking points heading into the Monte-Carlo Masters which takes place between 7-14 April, 2024.
On the main show court, Court Rainier III, it will be Grigor Dimitrov and Stefanos Tsitsipas that lead the way in their opening matches. Albeit two players with differing form as of late.
Dimitrov is coming off one of the best six months of his career and a real resurgence as of late. He reached the final of Miami last week and is straight to one of his residences of Monte-Carlo for the next phase of the season. Last year, he lost to Jiri Lehecka in the second round. But the newfound Dimitrov didn't come out until the second half of the season. He faces local player Valentin Vacherot.
Vacherot had his head in his hands at the draw ceremony when his fate was revealed. So would Laslo Djere perhaps given Tsitsipas' previous record in this tournament.
Tsitsipas is a two-time champion in Monte-Carlo and is known to love the surface and tournament that the Monegasque region gives. Djere has only won three matches this year and has never taken a set off Tsitsipas in any of their previous meetings. Although Djere is a fan of clay so isn't adept to the surface, it could be a confidence booster needed for the Greek.
Other matches to watch include an all French affair as Adrian Mannarino faces Arthur Fils and then Ugo Humbert will take on Federico Coria. The three leading lights of French tennis in a row in Monaco. Also concluding the main stadium portion is Karen Khachanov aka Mr Masters 1000 facing Cameron Norrie.
Also opponents will be set for Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in particular. Both will start their campaigns later in the week and for Djokovic, it will either be Roman Safiullin or Jaume Munar.
Both will play on Monday, while Alcaraz could take on Djokovic's Indian Wells conqueror in Luca Nardi. Nardi who hasn't had the best few weeks since that win came through qualifying, but Felix Auger-Aliassime awaits him needing some much needed confidence.
The big guns may not start their campaigns until later in the week in Monaco, but there is certainly some games to watch on Day Two.
